What is parking like at Crystal Cove?
Parking will be in the new El Moro Parking lot south of the Ranger Station. There is a parking fee for each car, so We encourage runners to carpool to the event. There is a new Fabulous Camp site that is open to the public, go to reserveamerica.com or call 1-800-444-7275 for camping reservations and fees.
Can I spectate at this event?
Yes! While parking may be limited at the start/finish, there are several spots on the course that are accessible by parking in residential areas and hiking onto the trail. Ridgepark, in Newport Coast, is the site of the mile 11/19 aid station and has plenty of road side parking along with parking at the nearby sports complex. In addition, the mile 5/25 aide station at Slow & Easy is a roughly one mile hike from the Ridgepark trail head and another good place to cheer your runner.
I can't run. Can I volunteer?
Yes, please! Contact the race director, Molly Kassouf for details on volunteer opportunities.
Is there a course cut-off?
Yes. An 8 Hour cut off is firm for the 50k and a 4 Hour cut off for the 25k option. The park requires the race staff to break down it's equipment after eight hours of racing. Plenty of supplies will be provided at the slower runner's last aid station to allow them to proceed.
Is this a good course for my first 25k / 50k?
This course features significantly challenging climbs and with recent weather damage, the course is often uneven and heavily rutted. A soft cut-off will require runners to move at a moderate pace. We recommend this course for a first time ultra racer only if they have trained for these difficult conditions.
What sort of swag can I expect?
Isn't this why we race these things? For the goodie bags and shirts? Well, you won't be disappointed with the high quality WIEM 25/50K SWAG!
What fuel/fluids will be provided at the aide stations?
Your typical ultra aide stations will include water, a selection of solid foods i.e. chips, crackers, cookies, etc and an electrolyte energy drink, check the Sponsor page for more information.
What awards are provided?
